Nonprofits play a key role in democracy building through voter engagement efforts and ensuring the people they serve are educated on the issues and races on the ballot. But nonprofit staff, leaders and board members don't need to sit on the sidelines of governance. Individuals working with nonprofits can and should consider running for office.
Learn from speakers from Vote Run Lead and Run for Office during this webinar focused on how to pipeline leaders of the nonprofit sector who are ready to run for office. They'll explain how the campaign process should go for 501(c)3 workers as well as what nonpartisan programs are available to assist and develop emerging candidates and propel them to success.
About the presenter: Christina Sanders
One of America’s youngest civic engagement leaders, her practical expertise is engaging and training women and young people to be involved and participate in elections, voting and public policy. Christina was recently appointed to serve on the Texas Advisory Committee for the United States Commission for Civil Rights. In Fall 2013 she ran for Houston City Council, District D, one of the city's most under-served, yet promising council district in Houston. Her campaign came in fourth in a crowded field of 12 candidates in the open-seat race.
