Unconscious Bias at Work
Presenter: Minnesota Council of Nonprofits
Cost: $20 for NDANO and MCN Members, $45 for nonmembers
Location: FM Area Foundation, , 409 7th Street S., Fargo
To build an inclusive environment that respects and values differences, it is essential to look at our mindset and our behaviors. When we understand how biases influence our behavior, we can take action to create an inclusive culture – one where everyone can contribute, innovate, and provide solutions to strengthen the organization. Practicing and building inclusion takes effort. As with any new skill, it takes time and practice to increase our effectiveness.
This workshop will allow participants to explore how their environment and experiences have shaped beliefs, biases, and filters regarding their view of others, situations, and events – particularly in decision-making in the workplace.
Participants will be able to:
-- Define unconscious bias
-- Understand how it can negatively influence workplace decisions
-- Identify their own biases and motivation to mitigate unconscious bias
