March 29: How Do You Know You’re Working with Quality Data?
During busy times, it’s easy for your staff to fall into doing “good enough” data collection and management. But sloppy or inconsistent data can do a lot of damage, especially if your organization’s leadership is relying on that data to make smart decisions about the future. In this first session, we’ll review the pillars of quality data and walk you through a quick auditing process that can help you uncover the places where your data is most vulnerable.

April 5: How to Work with Staff to Improve Data Quality—a Panel Discussion
Quality data is about your people knowing how to handle the data and caring that it’s the highest quality possible. Our panel of nonprofit leaders and data experts will discuss their experiences working with staff members to produce valuable data. They’ll discuss how to incentivize the collection and maintenance of high-quality data, how to make it easier for staff members to do data work, and how to deal with situations when staff members are unable or unwilling to handle data appropriately. Panelists will be announced soon.

April 12: The 10 Steps You Can Take Right Now to Put Your Data to Work
In this session, we’ll bring together all the information presented in the first class, and combine it with the insights from the second class, to provide you with a set of actionable tactics that will strengthen the role of data at your organization. We’ll answer questions such as: What are straightforward ways to document expectations? How can you ease the burden of data entry? What do staff members need from you to do their best data work? What processes consistently deliver high-quality data?
