NDANO Board Development Workshops

NDANO is pleased to present a series of Board Development Workshops with Carter McNamara in six locations around North Dakota. These sessions are designed for staff and board members of nonprofits of all sizes and missions. In addition, all workshop participants will have the opportunity to join a free, online, private discussion group in order to share resources, questions and answers.

Sessions (local time)
9 a.m.-Noon "Building Blocks for Successful Nonprofit Boards"
This half-day session will cover board roles and responsibilities or all organizational sizes; the relationship between board and CEO in different life stages of nonprofits; and best practices for all nonprofit governing boards, including a focus on board recruitment, training and retention.

1-4 p.m. "Bringing Your Board to the Next Level"
This half-day workshop will offer practical checklists to ensure maximum board participation, as well as a successful working relationship between board and CEO. The session will discuss how to focus on what’s important, not just urgent; review the types of struggling boards; and provide practical procedures to improve your board.

Presenter
A native of North Dakota, Carter McNamara, MBA, PhD, of Authenticity Consulting, is one of the nation's top experts about nonprofit boards. He is well-known for his highly practical tools for boards and for his lively, highly interactive training sessions. Carter has 25 years of real-world leadership and management experience in a variety of organizations, including start-up, public-private, nonprofit and for-profit.

Registration
Nonprofit staff and board members are invited to attend any combination of sessions. Each organization that participates will receive one copy of Carter's book, Field Guide to Developing, Operating and Restoring Your Nonprofit Board. Discounted rates are available for additional attendees from one organization. Fees are as follows:

NDANO & AFP Members:
Half-day session = $40
Full-day workshop = $60

Nonmembers:
Half-day session = $80
Full-day workshop = $100

Additional Attendees from Registered Organization:
Half-day session = $10
Full-day workshop = $20

**Space is limited to 30 participants at each workshop location. A maximum of four participants are allowed per organization.*

NDANO offers live in-person and online learning opportunities for nonprofits, often with partners. Members receive discounted rates on all NDANO events. All times are Central unless otherwise indicated.
