Building An Effective Email List
Presented by Idealware - NDANO Members receive 15% discount
Successful online fundraising, actions, and outreach all start with a solid and substantial list of email addresses. But how do you build a list of the addresses of constituents that are interested in your cause? We’ll discuss a wide variety of tools and techniques to gather solid email addresses, from direct mail and list appending techniques, to online registration methods, to PR and marketing tactics, to social media and viral marketing list building efforts – and how all of those things fit together.
The agenda includes:
• The Importance of a Good Email List
• Recruiting Your Current Supporters
• Making Online Friends
• Renting and Using Other People’s Lists
• Being a Good Correspondent
• Tracking Your Metrics
By the end of the session, you will understand:
• The types of information that you can provide via email that will make being on your list desirable to your constituents
• When it’s appropriate to add someone to your email list
• Methods – like mail appeals, website forms, tabling, and email appends – that can encourage your current supporters to join your email list
• Ways to reach people online – like Google Ads, social networking sites, pledges, petitions, videos, and other compelling content
• What’s possible (and what’s not) in terms of buying, renting, or trading lists
• How to try to keep your subscribers interested in your emails once they’re on your list
• How to track the success of your email efforts
