NDANO and Nonprofits Assistance Fund (NAF) are pleased to present workshops on Sept. 25 in Fargo and Sept. 26 in Mandan. NAF’s mission is to build financially healthy nonprofits that foster community vitality.

Workshop Summary:
Strategic financial planning and management requires a deep understanding of your income, expenses, assets, and liabilities. This advanced workshop will teach you to analyze and interpret your basic financial reports in context. We will discuss the components of nonprofit financial health, identify key financial indicators, and use a relevant case study to work through a ratio calculation exercise in class. We will also go over how to create dashboard reports summarizing the financial indicators important for your organization.

Workshop Presenter:
As loan officer and trainer at NAF, Phil Hartlie is responsible for assisting nonprofits during the loan application, review process and throughout the lifecycle of the loan. He has a special expertise in charter school financing. He also delivers training workshops and provides technical assistance on financial management topics to nonprofits. Prior to joining NAF, Phil spent 15 years working as the lead finance person at three Minnesota nonprofits. He served as a director of finance and administration for the Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches and Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity and as the director of operations for the Higher Education Consortium for Urban Affairs (HECUA).

Open Office Hours:
Need help understanding cash flow? Have follow-up questions after one of our trainings? Interested in discussing your nonprofit's business model or seeking sound advice on a complicated financial issue? NAF’s Office Hours are right for you. In free one-on-one consultations, NAF financial experts provide strategic financial guidance and technical assistance to nonprofits on a variety of nonprofit financial topics.

Schedule a 30-minute appointment with Phil Hatlie following the September workshops to discuss a specific financial question at no cost to you. We encourage you to bring relevant reference materials to use during your session, including financial reports, budgets or audits.
